Let's face it, this is now probably the only way we can make Grand Tours exciting for the victory again. It also allows more riders to attempt a GC in Grand Tours. Think riders like Plapp or Van Wilder could finish much higher. Some riders like Gall or Martinez will, of course, suffer because of this.
Would be nice to watch a race with some level of uncertainty of who will win. Yes, Pogacar is an amazing racer, and he deserves all the adoration, but suspense is lacking when he lines up for a Grand Tour. This is what made the 2023 and 2025 Giro so good. You didn't have Pogacar or Vingegaard there, and they were decided on the penultimate day.
Growth hormone or EPO can be available to all riders, I don;t think availability should be an argument. Besides, Bert Blocken's research in the wind tunnel has proven the real advantage.
Any team doctor who knowingly allows a rider with a fever to start a race should get a 12-month suspension.
It's too focused on the team leader's individual performance. The old format meant that you couldn't sacrifice your whole team, and you had to pace more tactically to make it to the line with 4 riders. This new system also makes it more difficult to execute multi-leader team strategies, since each rider is given their own time. Equal time between riders within the same team keeps those strategies viable deeper into a grand tour.
It would make 1 rider crashing out/getting sick so much more impactful. Luck would decide the Tour instead of the law of the strongest.
